Baby Boomers: The Inspiration for The New Elder

If we want a say in our future, it is up to us to find solutions. I started The New Elder as a way of creating a forum to discuss what we might do as well as to share the many creative solutions that have been implemented already. What kind of senior housing can be provided? How to we develop better multi generation communities for watching out for each other with the same care that loving children give to aging parents? How do we share information about useful senior services? What worked in the past? What new models can be invented for graceful aging? What can we start developing now, so that it will be in place when it is needed?

I think friends can take the place of family and can make all the difference to successful aging-in-place, but it will not happen without some forethought…

Who Becomes the Family Eldercare Project Manager?

In every family there are a wide variety of skills shared amongst the various members. Figure who is good at what….The leadership responsibility may change as hidden talents are discovered. If there is one person who can manage the big picture, the entire family has a better chance of experiencing eldercare positively while accepting changing roles as we all age.
